Your Event Doesn’t End with Closing Remarks
There is so much that goes into planning and preparing for an upcoming event. Whether your event is on-site or virtual, you have a list of to-dos to ensure all the planets align for a successful meeting.
Once the event is over, many of us think that we are free and clear. Wrong, your event doesn’t end with the speaker’s closing remarks; post-event work is just as if not more important that the work that goes into the preparation.
Here are a few things to get your post-event wheels turning.
EVENT SURVEYS
Whether your attendees are walking out the door or logging off, catch them – get their feedback. Ask them what worked well, what they felt were the biggest takeaway points or what did they feel that they expected to get from the event that they did not receive.
FOLLOW-UP MEETINGS
Meet with your organizing committee to see where improvements can be made in the flow, budget, marketing, etc. Review your feedback from the post-event surveys with the appropriate groups.
CONTENT DISTRIBUTION
Don’t forget about those that couldn’t attend. Post an event recording and/or transcribe the meeting minutes. Provide downloadable materials that were shared in-session. If your speaker didn’t have enough time to answer all the questions in the chat box or received follow-up questions in the post-event survey, respond directly to those individuals and make the answers available to your full audience.
SOCIAL MEDIA
If you utilized a hashtag for your meeting, follow what is being said before, during and after an event to identify or solidify your demographic and how others are sharing your content for an improved marketing strategy.
WATCH
The recording is not just for those who could not attend. Take the time to watch the presentation and encourage your speakers to do the same. Take the time to fine tune presentation skills and identify areas for improvement for the next event.
